On November 28th, 2023, local time, Member the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with UN Secretary-General Guterres at the UN headquarters in new york.

Wang Yi said that the world focuses on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and pays attention to the role and actions of the United Nations. On the issue of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, China has always stood firmly on the side of peace, human conscience and international law, and supported the United Nations and the Secretary-General to play a unique and irreplaceable role in resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. As the rotating presidency of the Security Council this month, China maintains close communication with Arab countries and relevant parties, and regards the Palestinian-Israeli conflict as the core and priority issue of the Security Council. China also hosted a recent collective visit to China by foreign ministers of Arab and Islamic countries, and convened a high-level meeting of the Security Council as soon as possible. Reach a consensus and look forward to a unanimous and clear voice from the Security Council.

Wang Yi said: Security Council Resolution 2712 is the first step to promote a ceasefire and a good beginning to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict through political means. The key now is whether the temporary ceasefire agreement can be extended and whether the war in Gaza will be rekindled. China's position is clear: First, the war must not be rekindled, a comprehensive ceasefire should be achieved to avoid a greater humanitarian disaster, and the detainees should also be released. Second, humanitarian goods should enter Gaza unimpeded, open more border crossings and establish an effective monitoring mechanism. The third is to restart the "two-state plan" as soon as possible, which is the greatest common denominator of the international community and the fundamental way to solve the Palestinian-Israeli problem. China calls for convening a more authoritative, extensive and effective international peace conference as soon as possible, and drawing up a road map and timetable for restarting the "two-state plan". China supports the United Nations to play a leading role in this regard.
